NEW SPELLBINDING NOVEL ABOUT THE BATTLE OF MARATHON
Synopsis of Race to Marathon: The vast Persian Empire already dominates nearly half of the earth’s entire population, but Persia’s Great King now has his sights on Greece. Race to Marathon vividly imagines this key moment in history—the Battle of Marathon. The action unfolds through the stories of its participants—valiant women, fearsome warriors, and cunning leaders—woven into a fabric of intrigue and passion.
All logic is on the side of the Persians, and the fate of the Greeks seems clear: death or enslavement. But on the battlefield, shrewd intuition, a zeal for glory, and the breathtaking feats of long distance runners help the Greeks. At home in Athens, wives, mothers, and daughters wage a war of wiles against traitors who plan to help the Persians capture the city.
And the goddesses are watching.
Race to Marathon builds to a stunning end, which demonstrates that the story of Marathon is as relevant today as it was when men and women of fortitude struggled to preserve their freedom.

ABOUT THIS SITE
The world’s first full-fledged clash of civilizations – East against West – took place during an 11-year period from 490 B.C. to 479 B.C. This was the time of the Greek Persian Wars, often called the Greco-Persian Wars, when the most powerful civilization that existed to that time – the vast Persian Empire, similar in size to the continental United States – attacked the cradle of Western civilization.
The Wars began with the battle of Marathon during the late summer of 490 B.C. Ten years later the Persians renewed their attack on Greece with a series of five major battles during 480-479 B.C.
This website will examine those long-ago events that permanently changed the course of human history and saved the West from what appeared to be certain doom. Many of these happenings are unbelievable and logically could not have occurred, but they did. The Greek Persian Wars are bull’s-eye examples of “truth” as described by several fine thinkers, including Mark Twain who said, “Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities. Truth isn’t.”
Our site will focus primarily on the battle of Marathon. This will include discussions of the “Mysteries of Marathon” – critical and amazing events affecting the battle’s outcome but that no one fully understands or can explain to everyone’s satisfaction.
However, before going to the Marathon page you may wish to take a moment and review two other pages that will provide an overview and context. First, the Map of Ancient Lands provides a tour of all the battle sites (and more) during the Wars. Second, the Greek Persian Wars page provides a brief overview and explanation of all the major battles.
Finally, you are invited to contact the site by using the Blog or Contact pages. Every effort will be made to promptly respond to your questions and incorporate your suggestions as part of the site’s ongoing future updates.
